Bacon Bourbon Caramel Corn

I am to popcorn as salt is to pepper. We just go together. (Now I’m humming the Grease song.)

When I came across Ginna Haravon’s Bacon Bourbon Caramel Corn at Logan Square Kitchen’s Pastry Market (now closed) I quickly dished out the $9 for the popcorn. My husband nearly fell over when I told him how much it cost and scowled at me as he counted dollar bills into Ginna’s hand while watching me shovel handfuls of the delicious concoction into my mouth with my own hands.

I don’t have a sweet tooth, but I do have what I call a salt mouth. I’ll pass over dessert any day for a second helping of anything salty. This treat is a rare indulgence for me that incorporates both savory and sweet. Something I’m typically not crazy about. But the smoky thick bacon bits, buttery caramel with a hint of bourbon and salt sprinkled in are pure perfection. For bacon lovers and popcorn enthusiasts everywhere, this makes a great gift (hint, hint!).
